Meet your counsellor
Pooja Sharma
Counsellor & Psychotherapist | Relationship Coach
ACA Registered Counsellor, Level 2 · PACFA Certified Practising Counsellor
I’m here to walk alongside you as you heal, understand yourself a little better, and make changes that last. For me, the heart of therapy is the relationship itself: feeling safe, listened to and accepted as you are.

Meet Pooja
The person behind my practice
My path to becoming a counsellor has been shaped by education, motherhood, teaching and lived experience. Alongside my Master’s in Counselling and Psychotherapy, I hold a Bachelor of Education, a Master’s in English and a Graduate Diploma of Counselling. Thirteen years as a teacher, including my experience as a coach and mentor, and five years of Gurukul teaching have deepened my appreciation of the many ways people learn, connect and express what they are struggling to put into words.
My experience of migration, parenting and significant life transitions has deepened my appreciation of how culture, relationships and change can shape wellbeing. As a counsellor, psychotherapist and relationship coach, I bring this understanding alongside professional training to support you in exploring relationship patterns, strengthening communication and working towards meaningful change. Our work remains centred on your experiences, values and goals.
I do not assume that my experiences are the same as yours. Your story, culture, relationships and needs are uniquely your own. My intention is to offer a respectful, compassionate space where you can feel heard, explore what matters to you and move towards change at a pace that feels right for you.
How I work
My work focuses on relationships and families: people recovering from relationship pain, couples, parents, children and teenagers, and families finding their way through change.
My approach is informed by postgraduate education, professional experience and ongoing training, including professional development completed through PESI. I am registered with the Australian Counselling Association at Level 2 and with PACFA as a Certified Practising Counsellor.
My approach is integrative, collaborative and evidence-informed. Depending on your needs and goals, I may draw on CBT, ACT, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy and person-centred practice, supported by trauma-informed and ADHD-informed principles. My couples work is informed by Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman Method. I maintain my practice through regular clinical supervision, reflective practice and continuing professional development.
As a counsellor and psychotherapist, I also draw on relationship-coaching strategies to support practical goals, communication and everyday relationship skills.
Most of all, I believe healing happens in a relationship built on trust and safety. You set the pace, and we only explore what feels right for you.
Your culture, your values, your story
You do not need to leave any part of yourself at the door. Your culture, language, faith, family relationships and lived experiences are welcome in our conversations—as much or as little as you choose to share.
I welcome Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and clients from all cultural backgrounds. I offer counselling in English and Hindi, with particular experience supporting South Asian individuals and families.
I approach your story with curiosity, humility and respect, rather than assumptions. You are the expert on what your culture, traditions and values mean to you. Together, we can explore family expectations, intergenerational differences, migration experiences or questions of identity and belonging, wherever these are relevant to your concerns.
If faith or spirituality matters to you, there is space for it in our work. If it does not, that is equally respected. Our conversations remain guided by your needs and beliefs—not mine.
Where and how we meet
I offer in-person counselling in Blacktown and Westmead, Western Sydney, and online sessions across Australia.
To get started, complete the enquiry form, and I usually respond within one business day to arrange a free 15-minute call. This brief conversation helps us explore what you’re looking for and whether Innertune is the right fit.
If we decide to proceed, we’ll organise your first appointment—in person or online, depending on your needs and suitability—to discuss informed consent, complete your initial intake and agree on the next steps.
