Who this is for

Couples preparing to marry, move in together, blend families or make another long-term commitment, including couples from different cultural, faith or family backgrounds.

You don’t need to be having problems. Many couples come simply to build a strong foundation.

Who attends

Both partners attend together.

What might bring you here

  • You’re engaged or planning to live together
  • You want to understand each other’s expectations about money, work, home and children
  • You come from different cultural, faith or family backgrounds
  • Extended family expectations are part of your relationship
  • You want to learn to handle disagreements well from the start
  • You’re bringing children into the relationship or blending families

How we work together

What counselling may involve

Together we explore the things that shape a long-term partnership, such as:

  • expectations, values and what commitment means to each of you
  • how you communicate, make decisions and handle conflict
  • sharing responsibilities, money and time
  • family, culture and faith, and how they fit into your life together
  • plans for children and parenting, if relevant

This work draws on the same EFT-informed and Gottman-informed approaches I use in couples counselling.

  • Person-centred
  • Trauma-informed
  • Culturally responsive
  • Strengths-based
  • Evidence-informed

What counselling doesn’t provide

  • Premarital counselling isn’t legal or financial advice.
  • It can’t promise a particular outcome.
  • It isn’t a crisis service.

When I may suggest another service

If concerns about safety, control or wellbeing come up, I may recommend individual support or another service before continuing joint sessions.

The fit call is a brief, free chat to check whether Innertune suits what you’re looking for. It isn’t counselling, assessment or crisis support.
